CODOS Update November 19, 2021: Dust/Snow/Flow Workshop

Greetings from Silverton,

Finally winter is approaching. The heat of summer drags on and autumn goes by in a flash. Here in Silverton, Center for Snow & Avalanche Studies’ world headquarters, we are dusting off the field sampling gear and standing by for snow.  Until then there is plenty to do and communicate so expect these Colorado Dust-on-Snow Program (CODOS) updates to become more frequent.

For now I want to get an upcoming workshop on your radar for December 3.  The theme of the workshop is dust/snow/flow in the Rio Grande and Colorado headwaters.  We will hit on many different topics including the major dust source regions, dust-on-snow, monitoring challenges and opportunities, current modeling methods and challenges, and how water is allocated in the Rio Grande based on the forecast.  This will be a participative conference with the purpose of tapping into the best thinking that we each can contribute.

The workshop is via Zoom and participation is free. If you would, please do click here to register for the workshop. This will generate a Zoom link for your use, and should also offer a calendar posting option after completing your registration.

Take Care
